U.S. Daily Debt Interest Cost Hits $3 Billion

According to Apollo Global Management’s chief economist, the U.S. government spends $3 billion daily on national debt interest. This figure doubled from $1.5 billion in early 2022. Interest payments, now $763 billion annually, rank as the second-largest budget item after Social Security. Despite potential interest rate cuts, daily costs exceeding $1 billion will persist.
