The Swiss Exchange (SIX) is exploring the launch of a new cryptocurrency trading platform in Europe to compete with industry giants like Binance. Bjørn Sibbern, Global Head of Exchanges at SIX Group, announced that the company is evaluating a platform to support spot and futures cryptocurrency trading, as the emerging industry increasingly gains recognition as a legitimate asset class. This platform aims to serve only institutional investors, such as asset managers. SIX plans to leverage its strong reputation and Switzerland’s favorable cryptocurrency regulations to attract institutional investors. This initiative could introduce significant competition to major trading platforms like Coinbase and Binance, which currently dominate the market.
