Hong Kong Adds 7 Unauthorized Crypto Exchanges to Its Watchlist

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has identified seven unauthorized cryptocurrency exchanges and added them to its warning list for operating without licenses in the region. This public record, known as the warning list, has been maintained since January 2020. On July 5, seven unauthorized crypto exchanges were added to the list, bringing the total to 39, with 28 identified this year alone. The seven unauthorized exchanges are Taurusemex, Yomaex, Bitones, BTEPRO, CEG, XTCQT, and Bstorest. Earlier this year, as part of Hong Kong’s broader initiative to become a regulated hub for cryptocurrencies, the SFC advised all crypto exchanges to apply for operating licenses. Based on their registration status with the SFC, these exchanges appear to have engaged in illegal activities, endangering investor security.
