Bank of Ghana Releases Draft Cryptocurrency Regulations

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has released a draft of new guidelines for regulating cryptocurrencies. This move follows three years of review and indicates an increasing national engagement with digital currencies. The proposed framework includes eight key components to address risks associated with digital assets, such as money laundering and fraud. Cryptocurrency exchanges must undergo a detailed registration process and participate in pilot schemes. The Bank of Ghana is collecting feedback from stakeholders until August 31 (10th of Shahrivar) to finalize the regulations. This move could significantly impact the future of cryptocurrency in Ghana.
