According to a report from the analytics platform Arkham Intelligence, Bhutan, a small South Asian country, has become one of the largest holders of this cryptocurrency, possessing 13,029 Bitcoins. This amount exceeds El Salvador’s Bitcoin holdings. These assets were acquired through Bitcoin mining operations conducted by Bhutan’s investment arm, Druk Holdings. Druk Holdings also has 656 Ethereum worth about $1.5 million. Bhutanese officials confirmed that hydropower mining has been ongoing since April 2019. In comparison, El Salvador holds 5,875 Bitcoins, which is about 45% of Bhutan’s total assets.
